Located in the delightful historic village of Berrima in the Southern Highlands this small museum–established in a relocated house from Moss Vale–showcases treasures connected to the history of the district.

The museum’s major exhibition is Prisoners in Arcady which explores the story of the German merchant seamen held during WWI in the German Internment Camp in Berrima.

The history of the community is told through several displays including the development of the dairy industry and the long and happy history of the Empire cinema at Bowral.

A rich mix of objects illustrate town and farm life during less affluent times when people had to ‘make-do’. New objects are displayed in the new arrivals case along with their stories to share with visitors.

The museum caters for children and offers absorbing activities. Visits outside normal hours are welcome–please contact the museum for bookings.

Group visits welcome by appointment any time. Contact the museum to arrange.
