Robo Camp has grown! Project Bucephalus will be trialing something new for the 2024/25 Holidays! In addition to the usual January workshops, the team will be running a two-day “Grand Sumo” event in December at the Wollongong TAFE.
Project Bucephalus Robotics is a Wollongong-based group that has been running robotics activities for children since 2011. Their after-school and school holiday workshops are an excellent activity for STEM-minded (or LEGO-obsessed) kids! Places are limited and bookings are essential. Book here now to reserve your child's place.
School Holiday Programs will be held across the UOW Shoalhaven Campus & TAFE Campus Wollongong.
In Robo Camp workshops, students learn how to design, build, and program their own robots. Project Bucephalus team members will pass on their skills in teamwork, lateral thinking, and having FUN!
While these activities are designed to be suitable for ages 7 and up, they will accept younger students if they are accompanied by an adult. Contact Us if you would like more information.

3-2-1 Fight! In Grand Sumo, students will explore the possibilities in one of the favourite Robo Camp activities as they design custom robots to autonomously fight robot sumo matches. Extra building options and advanced code will be offered to anyone interested in taking their fighting skills to the next level!
This course caters to both Novice and Advanced skill levels and is a mix of free-range and guided material. Students will be led through complex programming, and then encouraged to design and build robots to fight in a sumo ring.
Workshop #2: Introduction to Robotics (Wollongong)
This our standard beginner course. Students are introduced to LEGO® Robotics, learning the basics of robotics and programming as they build robots capable of reacting to their environment and making simple decisions. The second day of the workshop finishes with the ever-popular “Robot Sumo” challenge and a tournament where all families are welcome. No previous experience is required.
Workshop #3: Alive! (Wollongong)
It’s Alive! Alive!!! In this workshop, students will be guided through the creation of a robot that acts like a living being – responding with joy when played with, and getting tired, hungry, or sick if neglected. Each pair of students will design their own unique creation, exploring the capabilities of the SPIKE Prime programming environments.
This course is a mix of free-range and guided material. Students will be led through complex programming, and then encouraged to design and build their own custom robots. This is designed for students already familiar with LEGO® Robotics – or novices able to cope with a steep learning curve!
