The Child and Family Health Service provides free parenting support, advice and health checks (as outlined in the Personal Health Record (blue book) for parents of children 0 - 5 years.
Nurses do a newborn assessment at your home during the first week, after that you attend ongoing check-ups at the clinic until your child is school age. Binji & Boori is an Aboriginal specific service that sees families who are pregnant or have children aged 0- 5.
Who we are
Binji and Boori – Aboriginal Maternal Infant and Child Health (AMICH) supports women and families who are pregnant and/or have children up to age five.
Our team includes Aboriginal health workers, child and family health nurses, midwives, social workers, an occupational therapist and a speech pathologist.
We are part of Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District services. Our services also cover the areas of Milton, Ulladulla, Jerrinja, Wreck Bay and Jervis Bay.
We work at two locations: Port Kembla Hospital and Nowra.
What we do
Our Aboriginal health workers offer cultural awareness and emotional support. We offer home visits, in clinic visits and outreach from Aboriginal services.
We work with other services to offer you holistic and coordinated care, including services working with Aboriginal women, children and families.
