VOICES is a free, interactive art experience taking over Wollongong CBD from 19–21 June. Standing three metres tall, this unique installation responds to your touch with light and sound, allowing visitors to create a living choir by spinning its 50 illuminated tubes. Designed to be hands-on, inclusive and engaging for all ages, VOICES is perfect for families, kids and curious minds. By night, Crown Street Mall comes alive with silent discos, live performances and special after-dark activations, making this one of Wollongong’s most unique free events this winter. Winter is about to get a whole lot brighter as Eats & Beats Albion Park transforms Tongarra Road into a buzzing evening of food, live music and family-friendly fun on Saturday 27 June 2026 from 4pm–8pm.
Wander the street, grab something delicious from food trucks and local favourites, enjoy live music and soak up the relaxed community atmosphere. Whether you’re bringing the kids early for rides and entertainment or meeting friends later for an easy night out, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.

Expect a magical evening of food, live music, markets and family fun as Eats & Beats Oak Flats returns on Saturday 19 September 2026 from 4:30pm–8:30pm.
This vibrant twilight festival celebrates the heart of Oak Flats, bringing the community together with entertainment, local businesses, delicious eats and plenty of FREE activities for all ages. Wander the streets, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a fun night out close to home. Families can also enjoy carnival rides thanks to Oak Flats Primary School, with ride passes available to purchase on the night to support the school’s fundraising efforts.

Family Fun Day at The Balgownie Hotel
Both The Balgownie Hotel and Five Barrel Brewing (Wollongong) hold monthly family-friendly events at their venues. The Balgownie Hotel hosts their Family Fun & Games Day once a month and Five Barrel Brewing hold their event on the 2nd Sunday of every month.
Both venues offer messy play, live music, discounted kids and family meals, facepainting, outdoor games and alot more! Bookings are essential for lunch and entry is free.

Illawarra Light Railway Museum in Albion Park is a great low-cost place to take children who love trains! A family ticket covers five people at $60.50 and bring your own picnic lunch to keep costs down! Visitors can enjoy rides on restored light rail vehicles and learn about the evolution and history of railways in Illawarra.
Ride the steam trains and miniature rail trains whilst getting a fascinating glimpse into the history of our rail transport. The tours are lively and full of history, you’ll get up close and personal with all the trains.
