Research Participation Opportunity: Seeking pregnant couples in the Illawarra–Shoalhaven region to participate in a PhD research project through the University of Wollongong.
The study evaluates Becoming Us: Before Baby (Taylor, 2016), a five-session antenatal relationship program designed to support couples as they prepare for the transition to parenthood. The program focuses on emotional wellbeing, relationship changes, communication, and early parenting adjustment.
The program will begin in October 2025, with session dates to be confirmed. Participation is free and all materials are provided. Sessions will be conducted at a time that minimises disruption to work schedules (i.e., weekday evenings or a weekend day).
We are seeking couples who:
• Are in their second trimester at the time of registering
• Are expecting their first child together
• Live in the Illawarra–Shoalhaven or surrounds (or are willing to travel to University of Wollongong to participate in the intervention)
• Are willing to attend all sessions together
• Are both able to complete an online registration survey
This study is being conducted by Mathew Aquilina (PhD Candidate), A/Prof Judy Pickard, and Dr Nicole Reilly at the University of Wollongong – Early Start. UOW HREC Approval: 2025/058.
