Hi I’m Cheree, and I’m a qualified Art Therapist, HH Dip (A.TH.) and member with IICT. In the past 3 yrs I took a new turn in my life and began a journey in personal development, learning about self help, mental health, behaviours and how are mental models can determine our out-comes. From here I discovered the power of Art Therapy.
Everyone is unique and sometimes we find it challenging to put words to feelings and art therapy provides an alternative way to express these emotions. Instead of words, clients can use visuals to convey their message and allow the artwork to be their voice.
After an initial assessment of the client, I tailor future sessions to the specific goals of the client and parental concerns, in particular using the art-making to encourage more self-awareness, emotional regulation and overall healthier mental well-being. To get the full art therapy experience I would recommend 6 to 8 sessions, but on going regular sessions would be a very beneficial for general well being and mental health.
Art therapy is about achieving goals and learning how, where and why our thoughts are developed. It is a way of expressing feelings in a creative way often without words. I’m extremely passionate about helping others and I believe Art Therapy can be beneficial in our journey towards healing or understanding where we are going in our life. You don’t need to be an artist to apply this to your life, you just need to be open and ready for change and transformation to begin.
