Looking for FREE things to do for teenagers and young adults in Wollongong and the Illawarra? The Wollongong Youth Centre is a vibrant, welcoming and inclusive space for young people aged 12–24, offering an exciting range of FREE activities, creative workshops, music programs, social groups and events!

Run by Wollongong City Council's Youth Services team, the centre is a fantastic place to make friends, explore new interests, build confidence, learn new skills or simply hang out in a safe, supportive environment.

Whether you're into music, art, gaming, fashion, photography or just looking for somewhere to connect with other young people, there's something for everyone!

Even better? Wollongong Youth Services also runs FREE outreach programs across Bellambi, Dapto and Warrawong, making it easier for young people throughout the Illawarra to get involved.

FREE Weekly Activities & Programs at Wollongong Youth Centre

Check out the fantastic range of FREE activities happening throughout the week:

• Creative Industries Workshops – Wednesdays, 3:30pm–5:30pm: Build skills in stagecraft, music performance, sound and lighting, photography and more!
• Rainbow League – Mondays, 6pm–8pm: A welcoming social group for LGBQIA+ young people aged 18+ to make friends, enjoy activities and connect in a safe, inclusive space.
• Team Ignite – Thursdays, 4pm–5pm: Love music? Learn about music, stage production and event management. Perfect for young musicians, bands and music enthusiasts!
• Hang Out – Tuesdays, 3pm–6pm; Thursdays, 3pm–8pm; Saturdays, 1pm–4pm: Relax in comfy lounges, enjoy FREE WiFi, play table tennis or pool, and chat with friendly youth workers.
• On Stage – Fortnightly Thursdays, 5:30pm–7pm: Enjoy open mic sessions, karaoke and live music! Starting Thursday 29 October 2026.
• Dungeons & Dragons (DND) – Tuesdays, 3:30pm–5:30pm: Play tabletop games, meet new people and enjoy a fun, social gaming experience.
• Youth in Fashion – Tuesdays, 4pm–5:30pm: An eight-week program teaching young people how to sew and create their own clothing and accessories. Currently fully booked – keep an eye out for future programs!
• Mural Workshops – Wednesdays, 3pm–5pm: Help create a colourful mural for the Youth Centre's forecourt! Mural painting sessions are scheduled for 28 October, 4 November and 5 November 2026.
• Crafts n Chat – Fridays, 3pm–5pm: Get creative, explore different craft activities, relax and make new friends in a welcoming environment.
• Art Sessions – Wednesdays, 3:30pm–5:30pm: Explore different art techniques, including spray painting, stencilling and painting.

All these activities are advertised as FREE. Check with Wollongong Youth Services for current program details and availability.

FREE Drop-In Sessions – Come Hang Out!

Need somewhere fun, safe and welcoming to spend time after school or on weekends? Wollongong Youth Centre offers FREE drop-in sessions where young people can relax, meet friends and enjoy the centre's facilities.

• Thursdays: 3pm–8pm
• Saturdays: 1pm–4pm

FREE Weekly Youth Outreach Programs

• Bellambi Connect – Mondays, 1:45pm–3:30pm: A FREE social group for young people aged 12–18 to learn new things, play games and meet new people. Location: Bellambi Neighbourhood Centre, 49a Cawley Street, Bellambi.
• Bundaleer Connect – Mondays, 3pm–5pm: Enjoy a FREE afternoon of sports, games and food for young people aged 12–18. Location: Bundaleer Community Centre, Northcliffe Drive, Warrawong.
• Dapto Connect – Wednesdays, 3pm–5pm: Meet new friends, learn new skills and enjoy a variety of FREE activities, including art, games and more! Location: Dapto Ribbonwood Centre, Dapto.
• Pride Connect – Tuesdays, 6pm–8pm: A relaxed, welcoming FREE weekly social group for LGBTQIA+ community members and allies aged 18+ to connect, have fun and feel supported. Location: Wollongong Library.
• Teenz Connect – Thursdays, 3pm–5pm: A fun, FREE social program featuring Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), games, special guests and practical life skills. A great way to meet new people and try something different! Location: Warrawong Library, Level 1, 67–71 King Street, Warrawong.
