Project Bucephalus Robotics is a Wollongong-based group that has been running robotics activities for children since 2011. Their after-school and school holiday workshops are an excellent activity for STEM-minded (or LEGO-obsessed) kids!
School Holiday Programs will be held across the Shoalhaven (1 & 3 October) and Wollongong (9 & 10 October).
In Robo Camp workshops, students learn how to design, build, and program their own robots. Project Bucephalus team members will pass on their skills in teamwork, lateral thinking, and having FUN!
SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS:
- Shoalhaven at UOW: Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 3rd October.
- Wollongong at TAFE North Wollongong: Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th October.
PLEASE NOTE OCTOBER SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS ARE STILL PENDING AT THIS STAGE AND WILL BE UPDATED SHORTLY - STAY TUNED!
Workshop #1: TBC
This our standard beginner course. Students are introduced to LEGO® Robotics, learning the basics of robotics and programming as they build robots capable of reacting to their environment and making simple decisions. The second day of the workshop finishes with the ever-popular “Robot Sumo” challenge and a tournament where all families are welcome. No previous experience is required. While the activity is designed to be suitable for ages 7 and up, we will accept younger students if they are accompanied by an adult. Note: Introduction to Robotics is our recommended course for novice students.
Workshop #2: TBC
This workshop will challenge students to produce a collaborative “Great Ball Contraption”, with each robot representing one link in a chain. This workshop requires teamwork and creativity as well as engineering and programming skills!
This course provides a specific parameters to students, and encourages free-range design, construction and programming in those limits. Students will be encouraged to explore and develop skills, getting assistance from our mentors along the way. This is designed for students already familiar with LEGO® Robotics – or novices able to cope with a steep learning curve! While the activity is designed to be suitable for ages 7 and up, we will accept younger students if they are accompanied by an adult. Contact Us if you would like more information.
Note: Introduction to Robotics is our recommended course for novice students. However, Incredible Machine can serve as an alternate for students who feel the Introduction course is too simple.
